YOUR CLINICIAN

Mia Heckstall, MA, BC-DMT

Creative Arts Psychotherapist & Counselor

I’m Mia Heckstall, MA, BC-DMT, a Creative Arts Psychotherapist and Counselor, Psychic Medium, Tarot Reader, author, creator, and educator. This work is deeply personal to me because my journey into becoming a therapist began with my own healing. While healing from my own trauma and spending years in and out of therapy, I realized that something was missing. As a Psychic Medium and deeply spiritual person, my spiritual side was not always being met within traditional therapy. But when I sought out spiritual teachers and spaces outside of therapy, I found that the clinical side of my healing was not being met either. I realized I needed a space that could hold all of me, my mind, my body, my emotions, my creativity, and my spirituality.

So I became the healer I had always needed.

My clinical approach is rooted in a humanistic perspective and integrates Internal Family Systems, inner child work, shadow work, creative arts therapy, movement, mindfulness, and reflective practices. I believe we are multidimensional beings, and healing often requires us to look beyond the surface and understand the different parts of ourselves, the experiences that shaped us, and the stories we carry. My goal is to create a safe therapeutic space where you can explore those parts of yourself, process your experiences, develop self compassion, build healthier relationships, and learn how to transmute pain and trauma into wisdom, creativity, and personal growth.

Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of clinically serving thousands of clients across Philadelphia, Texas, and Virginia. Through my spiritual work, I also serve clients throughout the United States and globally as a professional Psychic Medium and Tarot Reader. I am the author of Shadow Work Alchemy, creator of the Shadow Work Alchemy Oracle Deck, and an educator who teaches courses exploring mental health, spirituality, shadow work, and personal transformation. I have also had the honor of teaching as a guest professor at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, where I taught college students about creative arts, shadow work, and creative arts therapies.

Although spirituality is an important part of who I am, you do not have to be spiritual to work with me. I welcome people of all genders, cultures, backgrounds, and spiritual belief systems. My role is not to tell you what to believe, but to meet you where you are and create a therapeutic experience that honors your individual story and needs.

This work is deeply personal for me because I became the person my inner child needed. I became the therapist I needed. I created the kind of healing space I was searching for when I was learning how to understand my own trauma, spirituality, creativity, and identity. Now, I get to show up for you and create that space for you too.

If we are aligned, I look forward to working with you. Thank you so much for being a part of this experience and trusting me to be a part of your journey.
